In 2002, my daughter Kate was born with a condition called Sagittal Synostosis. This rare medical problem caused the bones in her skull to fuse prematurely. As her brain grew it caused her head to develop a serious deformity. The long-term effects would have been a seriously mis-shaped head, and possible pressure on her brain.
The cure for this was invasive surgery that removed much of the top of her skull. Thanks to the great doctors at Children's Hospital of San Diego, Kate is now a beautiful, smart and tenacious little girl.
Since that time, our home town of Austin has opened an incredible new Children's Medical Center and our family has established the Kate Singer Endowment For Cranio-Facial Surgery.
A portion of all my speaking fees are donated to this endowment to assist the hospital with research and other medical necessities to help other families who face similar issues.
If you would like to donate to the Kate Singer Endowment For Cranio-Facial Surgery, you can do so by sending a check to the address below.
While we hope that Kate will never again have any side effects from her ordeal, we know that our contributions ... and yours ... will help these amazing doctors continue to discover new ways to help children facing facial and cranio abnormalities.
